Webroot is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer for our Cloud QA team. This SQE will perform complex testing tasks requiring planning, scheduling and testing to assure that developed products meet design specifications and are within total quality management limits and standards. This position requires the candidate to work closely with the Cloud Development team to produce high performance and defect-free web services and components across the Reputation Engineering product line. These web services are customer-facing and therefore are developed to the highest possible performance and reliability standards. Internal systems require handling very large data sets and high performance to keep pace with incoming data and product output.

Responsibilities

• Ensure software releases meet Quality Assurance specifications with regard to expected features, functionality and quality, by implementation of a test plan, and through comparison of the end product with respect to the finalized requirements documents, product descriptions, and technical design specifications. Provide necessary feedback to software developers and designers to eliminate defects within the product as early in the development process as possible.
• This role also encompasses two main facets: Quality, accuracy, and integrity of delivered content, reputation and threat IPs data, and tracking customer requests to conclusion; Software processed and services used to deliver data are highly reliable.
• Responsible for performance, stability, reliability and robustness of Reputation technologies by conducting various forms of performance and Enterprise Wide Testing (EWT) techniques.
• Develop for 24x7 customer-centric simulations. Inclusive of data determinism for each underlying transaction.
• Accountable for developing system resource utilization, performance and up-time metrics (5 9's) for Reputation technologies. Data to be used for identifying bottlenecks, rendering tuning optimizations and assessing product stability over time.
• Productize, document, and harden customer-facing systems.
• Participate in all phases of the project, from review of requirements and design to final system testing and launch
• Develop test cases and test products to meet assigned requirements
• Render detailed defect descriptions and support materials into the defect tracking system
• Schedule definition, resource requirements, and execution to plan for all assigned features
• Interact with Development team to ensure a comprehensive engineering documents and test strategy
• Documentation reviews for Technical Publications deliverables
• May be asked to supervise or mentor junior QA engineers to meet established project milestones
• Stay abreast of industry-wide changes in technology, programming techniques and new tools being used in the QA field

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent. Industry experience is acceptable
• 5+ years experience in product Quality Assurance
• In depth knowledge of QA test methodologies and strategies
• Application and demonstration of systematic approaches for identifying and rendering feature rich, complex test cases
• Demonstrates competence and self-motivation in analyzing problems and performing root cause analysis
• Cardinal knowledge, application and improvements to various product development processes (e.g. Agile)
• Experience in rendering and reviewing metrics for assessing readiness of product release
• Performance monitoring and analysis
• Proven ability to grasp quickly and keep current on new technologies and understand business needs
• Able to identify and co-implement quality campaigns within the Development community
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• 4+ years working with network communication protocols (e.g. HTTP, FTP, TCP/IP, XML, SSL)
• 4+ years experience working in Linux, BSD or UNIX environment
• 3+ years experience working with databases (MSSQL, MySQL or Transact-SQL) and strong SQL knowledge.
• 3+ years experience in load and stress testing web applications for reliability, performance and scalability (i.e. resource utilization)
• Experience certifying Web Reputation Service-class technologies an extreme plus
• Experience certifying Software As A Service (SAAS) technologies a plus
• Programming experience in Java/C/C++ or white box testing experience a plus
• Experience working in test-driven development model a plus
• Test Automation or Code Coverage Analysis skills a plus
