EuroCloud expands Europe’s most influential cloud computing network with the support of leading SaaS security provider, Webroot
Bracknell, U.K., 7 January, 2010
Webroot, a leading security provider for the consumer, enterprise and SME markets, today announced that it has become a founding member of EuroCloud, Europe’s first ever SaaS and cloud services business community.
EuroCloud is led by Pierre-José Billotte, President and Founder of the French ASP Forum.1 The community gathers together leading SaaS vendors, enablers, integrators and industry experts across Europe to share best practices and expand their businesses across the continent. To date, it has created local communities in Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Germany, UK, Ireland, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Ukraine and Turkey. EuroCloud intends to replicate its initial success by expanding the network to further countries to achieve 20 regional organisations and around 500 members by 2014.
Mark Tickle, Managing Director, Webroot, said "Webroot is delighted to have joined EuroCloud’s quest to deliver the benefits of cloud computing to the European business community, as we continue to expand our own outreach worldwide. We see an increase in the adoption of cloud-based web and email security services, as more and more companies become aware of SaaS as a choice of efficiency and effectiveness. Importantly, EuroCloud will also convey best practices surrounding the use of cloud-based technologies as its acceptance grows."
In addition to Webroot, EuroCloud is supported by additional class-leading companies in Europe and in the US including Amazon Web Services, Qualys, salesforce.com, and SuccessFactors.
"In Europe, the upcoming cloud computing era provides new opportunities to build worldwide application and technology relationships to offer new, added-value solutions," explained Pierre-José Billotte, EuroCloud general coordinator and head of EuroCloud France. "We are delighted to be welcoming leading security SaaS provider, Webroot, into the fold."
According to IDC, worldwide IT spending on cloud services will grow almost threefold, reaching US.2 billion, by 2013 (IDC eXchange, "IDC's New IT Cloud Services Forecast: 2009-2013," http://blogs.idc.com/ie/, October 5, 2009).
